Yann is a French digital designer plying his trade in NYC. His character design is totally charming and he’s made them available as desktop downloads. As I was digging through his work I found his Product & Interface Design page, projects he does in his spare time because he apparently can’t help but try and make the world a better place. And we have nothing but respect for people who design a better iPod like object.
It’s just way to easy to make fun of Microsoft.

Gelaskins, removable vinyl skins for protecting and customizing portable devices, look great on iPods and laptops, and come in many art loving varieties. I’m eying this vintage Ralph Steadman take on Fear and Loathing in Los Vegas. Or maybe this dark portrait of the Mario Brothers by Bob Dob. $14.95 and $32.95 (US) respectively.
The Zune, Microsoft’s supposed iPod killer, has just been dealt another blow by Advertising Age’s Media Guy Simon Dumenco. In his glossary of must-know media terminology for 2007:
ZUNE: Microsoft’s new music player. Also [slang]: a poseur; a wannabe. Usage: “Dude, you look like such a Zune in that shirt.”
In light of Apple’s anti-climactic announcements yesterday regarding the iPod Hi-Fi boombox, I thought I’d let you in on some more ecclectic 3rd party accessories.
